Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, due to its special geographical conditions and being in a mountainous and cold region, has always enjoyed favorable conditions for the production of handwoven carpets, and carpet production is more important than other handicrafts, and carpet is the most important handicraft industry. It is Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, which is primarily settled in the villages, then among the nomads, and finally in the cities. Carpet is one of the luxury items of nomadic life and it shows their dignity and pride. The most important areas of carpet weaving in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province are: Chalontar – Saman – Ashgoftak – Pirbulut – Arjang – Vardanjan – Farrokhshahr – Borujen – Beldaji – Faradbaneh – Hirgan – Babahaydar – Ardel and its subordinate areas – Shalamzar, as well as the group of Olad clan carpets . At present, all Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari carpets can be divided into two main groups according to the weaving areas and especially their weavers: 1- Bakhtiari carpets, which are the result of the weavers of the Bakhtiari nomads or residents whose ethnic origin is from the Lor Bakhtiari clans. 2- Qashqai carpet, which is the product of Qashqai Turkish nomads.
